Richard W. Klipstein
Richard Klipstein is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of NOLHGA, a position he has held since August 1999. He supervises NOLHGA resources deployed to assist state guaranty associations in managing insolvencies, develops and implements the organization's strategic initiatives, and oversees NOLHGA’s communications efforts. In addition, he is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of the internal operations of NOLHGA.
Klipstein joined NOLHGA in May 1992 as the executive vice president of insurance services, a position created earlier that year. From 1995–1999, he served as NOLHGA’s representative on the board of directors of MBL Life Assurance Corporation and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the successful rehabilitation plan for this $8 billion life insurer.
Prior to joining NOLHGA, Klipstein served in a number of positions at Aetna, including vice president of Aetna Financial Services, Inc., with responsibility for developing new markets and advertising for the $70 billion investment management business; and assistant vice president of annuity and pension operations, where he developed the organization’s 401(k) and systems strategies. In the Personal Financial Security Division, he managed the $3 billion pension business.
Klipstein attended the University of Wisconsin and received his Masters in Business Policy from Columbia University.
